President Joe Biden will return to the White House on Sunday after celebrating his birthday on Saturday.
The quick trip to Delaware came after a busy week that included signing the $1 trillion infrastructure bill.
The president is scheduled to depart on Marine One from Delaware at around 2 p.m. and arrive at the White House more than an hour later.
Airspace restrictions will be in effect from Friday into Monday.
No public or private events were scheduled on Saturday.
The Friday schedule for the president was light. Before his departure, Biden performed the traditional pardoning of a turkey.
Biden underwent a colonoscopy on Friday with Vice Kamala Harris briefly taking the reins while the president is under anesthesia. He was pronounced to be in good health. Biden is the nation’s oldest serving president.
Earlier in the week, Biden was on the road promoting the infrastructure bill and touring a GM electric vehicle site in the Midwest. The bill includes adding charging stations for EVs.
Biden also met with the leaders of Canada and Mexico to discuss issues of interest. One sticking point with our neighbor to the north is pending legislation that would provide tax incentives for building electric vehicles in unionized plants in the U.S.
The provision would discourage the assembly of electric vehicles in Canada.
Biden’s many trips to Delaware made the news this week, with the disclosure that $3 million has been spent in Secret Service protection during more than two dozen trips home during his time in office.
It comes on top of declining popularity ratings that came with an increase in Covid-19 cases and general dissatisfaction with the state of the economy and rising inflation.
