Investigation continues into shooting at Concord Mall

Delaware State Police continue to investigate a shooting late Friday afternoon at Concord Mall off Route 202 (Concord Pike).

At around 4:35 p.m. multiple 9-1-1 calls were placed regarding someone was shot inside H&M, located within the  mall at 4737 Concord Pike.

Before troopers arrived, a 22-year-old male man from Chester, PA,  left the mall by private vehicle and was transported to an area hospital with gunshot wounds to his lower abdomen and leg. The suspect or suspects fled the mall. No description was offered and his condition was not disclosed.

At about  6:30 p.m. the Concord Mall was determined to be safe. The mall was closed for the remainder of the night.

The shooting was not good news for the mall, which has struggled to attract tenants and is not focusing on smaller retailers.
