Covid update: 3 new deaths, with another 9 added from public record review

In its  Wednesday  report, Delaware continued to see a sure in new cases  and a dozen deaths as the state remains in the very high risk category.
 
The total number of hospitalizations rose above 190, a sharp contrast earlier on the summer when the number had dropped below 50. Hospitalizations rose to a peak of 474 during the past winter.
 
Total doses of vaccine administered in Delaware have  reached the 1.1 million mark.

12 deaths were reported as of Wednesday   – three  current  and nine  from a review of records from March, June and July. The deaths increased Delaware’s total number of Covid-related deaths to 1,869.
 

A breakdown of the deaths:

• Current – Two residents of New Castle County and one  a resident of Sussex County. They ranged in age from their 50s to their 70s, and none was a resident of a long-term care facility. Two were not vaccinated; one was fully vaccinated.
• Vital Statistics records (nine  deaths)  – Five were residents of New Castle County, three were from Sussex County and one was from  Kent County. They ranged in age from their 40s to their 80s, and four were residents of long-term care facilities. None of the nine  was vaccinated.
 
The other numbers:
  •  351 new positive cases, bringing the overall total to 117,587. The cumulative breakdown by county: New Castle, 68,878 cases; Kent, 20,114 cases; Sussex, 28,362; county not yet known, 233.
  • 7.4% of total tests were positive in the seven-day rolling average (unchanged from the previous day).
  • 191 current hospitalizations, up three  from the previous day,  including 29 individuals in critical condition.
  • 20 new hospital admissions (down 1 from the previous day).
  • 703 people who tested negative, bringing the total to 658,951.
  • 489,963 Delawareans fully vaccinated (up 347 from the previous day).
  • 1,104,148 total vaccine doses administered (up 2,664 from the previous day).
