The Delaware Division of Small Business has decided to defer HELP loan payments for a couple of months.

It means business owners making payments in the program will not be required to make a payment on an outstanding HELP loan until at least Sept. 1, 2021.

The division announced it would continue to communicate with loan recipients as that date approaches for payments to resume.

The HELP program has targeted restaurants and other businesses that were hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Restaurants and other areas of the hospitality industry have been struggling with labor shortages after restrictions ended.

Many establishments have not expanded hours and days of operation due to a lack of staff.
