Delaware continued to see an elevated number of Covid-19 cases in the Tuesday report from the Delaware Division of Public Health. Cases remain above 200, after earlier moving toward the 100 figure.

Delaware and other states have seen an uptick in March cases after a long-running decline that began after the holidays.

At least partly to blame for the increase in St. Patrick’s Day activities. Easter could present another opportunity for more cases as families and friends gather.

The number of hospitalizations has risen. However, the number of people in critical condition from Covid-19 complications has dropped below 10.

The recent uptick started with a surge in cases as University of Delaware students returned to Newark. The number of cases tied to the UD community has declined of late. (See graphic below).

New Castle County zip codes have reported an elevated number of cases. Those zip codes have included Newark, including the University of Delaware area and Hockessin-Greenville.

The CovidActNow dashboard ranks   Delaware as “high risk” for growth in new cases. That was an improvement from a “Very High” rating a day earlier.
