About 1,500 Delmarva Power customers remained without power on Christmas Day after high winds and heavy rain swept through the area in the latter hours of Christmas Eve.

About 100 separate  outages were reported in the Wilmington area with a number of large trees down and some streets closed for a time.

Numerous roads were closed due to flooding or downed trees, the Delaware Department of Transportation reported.

Delmarva Power’s Emergency Response Organization was mobilized with all company resources, as well as additional mutual assistance resources from utility companies in Florida.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ reported 50 mile an hour-plus winds. Rainfall ranged from one to three inches, with higher amounts in some locations.
