Frontier Airlines has canceled plans to fly from the Wilmington-New Castle Airport but plans to revisit the issue in the fall.
That was the word from Delaware River and Bay Authority spokesman James Salmon, who said service is off indefinitely.
Earlier this year, the airline announced, with much fanfare, plans for a three-times-a-week nonstop service to and from Orlando, beginning May 15.
Frontier still lists the airport as a destination but does not allow reservations.
Plans came to a halt as the coronavirus pandemic unfolded and sent airline traffic plummeting.
Frontier has cut its flight schedule by more than 90 percent in April in response to an environment where many jets are flying with few passengers with much of the nation under stay at home orders from coronavirus.
The company anticipates a gradual increase in flights beginning in May. Forecasts call for a slow recovery of the economy after mass layoffs and business closings.
The airline had been in an expansion mode, with more than 100 new Airbus jets on order.
The airline typically serves mid-sized or small markets with flights a few days a week.
Prior to the coronavirus crisis, the airline had served two dozen cities from the nearby Philadelphia International Airport.
