Firefighter suffers neck burn in blaze that caused $1 million in damage to Stanton-area apartment complex

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a  two alarm apartment building fire in the Stanton area that caused $1 million in damage. 

The blaze was  reported shortly after 11:30 a.m. in the  4600 block of Patrician Boulevard in the Limestone Terrace Apartment complex off Limestone Road and near Kirkwood Highway.

The Mill Creek Fire Co.  arrived on the scene with flames coming from a third floor apartment.

  One firefighter was transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room after suffering second  degree burns to the neck.

State fire investigators are currently on the scene searching for the fire’s origin and cause.  The twelve unit building sustained heavy fire damage.

The total number of displaced residents has not been determined. Smoke was visible for miles.

A few of the occupants were checked out by medical crews on scene, but none were  transported to a medical facility.

The building’s fire alarm system did  function, according to a report from the Delaware Fire Marshal’s Office. 

 

                  The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
