The mall on Route 202 has seen a rising vacancy rate as chain and independent retailers go out of business and shoppers turn to regional malls like Christiana Mall and the stores around its boundaries.

It was recently announced the the store, anchored by Macy’s, Sears and Bosccov’s was sold by Delaware-based Allied Retail Properties.

Plans for an upgrade of the mall have long been a part of the rumor mill, as well as a destination fitness center. However, neither  nothing has materialized.
