Harvey named partner at Morris, Nichols

Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP, Wilmington, announced that bankruptcy and restructuring attorney Matthew B. Harvey has been invited to join the firm partnership, effective January 1.

“We are delighted to welcome Matt to the partnership and congratulate him on this significant career milestone,” said Andrew M. Johnston, chair of the firm’s executive committee.

Matt focuses on chapter 11 business bankruptcy, bankruptcy litigation, reorganization, and restructuring.

Harvey has a decade of experience handling in- and out-of-court restructuring transactions for publicly-traded and private companies, bankruptcy litigation and appeals, as well as commercial litigation. He also has substantial experience representing debtors, foreign representatives, and others in cross-border cases.

Brown named partner at Landis Rath

Landis Rath & Cobb LLP is pleased to announce that Kimberly A. Brown has been elected to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1.

Kim concentrates her practice in the areas of Corporate Bankruptcy and Restructuring and Bankruptcy Litigation often representing chapter 11 debtors, official and unofficial committees, secured and unsecured creditors, indenture trustees and bondholders, asset purchasers, and chapter 15 foreign representatives.

A 2008 graduate of the Widener University Delaware Law School, Kim also earned her B.A. from Widener in Government & Politics in 2005. She is admitted to the practice of law in Delaware.

Danberg, Spence named partners at Baird Mandalas Brockstedt

Baird Mandalas Brockstedt, LLC announced that Barbara Snapp Danberg and Stephen A. Spence have been named partners of the firm. 

Danberg is a graduate of the University of Delaware and Widener University Delaware Law School, where she served as research editor for the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. She has served as an adjunct professor at Widener University Delaware Law School and has also taught in the school’s paralegal program. For more than 25 years, Danberg has counseled families and businesses and she has earned an outstanding reputation in her practice area of estate planning and trust administration. She also represents tax exempt entities and provides guidance on complex tax issues and commercial transactions. Danberg lives in Newark. Delaware.

Spence specializes in trial and appellate litigation in the fields of business law, commercial disputes, real estate, fiduciary relations and creditor’s rights in all Delaware courts. He also advises small businesses on various issues, including formation, contracts, leases and regulation.  He is President of the Sussex County Bar Association and Chair of the Real Estate Section of the Delaware State Bar Association.  Spence is a Lewes resident.

Tony Allen honored by Barristers Association

The Delaware Barristers Association recently honored Dr. Tony Allen, university provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, with its Excellence in Education Award.

Presented during its annual Louis L. Redding Benefit and Awards Gala at the Wilmington Country Club, the association presented Dr. Allen with the award “in recognition of a dynamic leader whose leadership and outstanding contributions to the field of education has demonstrated a true social commitment to social justice and equality for all.”

Allen has been Delaware State University provost since the summer of 2017. With the approaching retirement of current University President Wilma Mishoe, the university’s Board of Trustees has selected  Allen to be the 12th president in the history of the institution on Jan. 1.

The Delaware Barrister Association is a non-profit organization and a local affiliate of the National Bar Association.

Greenberg Traurig marks 20th anniversary in state

The Delaware office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP commemorated its 20th anniversary with a celebration last month at DE.CO in Wilmington. The event brought together more than 100 clients, attorneys, staff, alumni, and firm leadership from across the firm and the city of Wilmington.

Mahoney joins Potter Anderson

Potter Anderson recently announced the addition of Kate Mahoney as an associate for the firm’s Corporate Litigation group. Mahoney focuses her practice on corporate and commercial litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery. She received her law degree from Drexel University in 2016 and previously worked at Gordon, Fournaris & Mammarella.
