A section of Route 72 in Bear will be closed beginning Monday as construction continues on the key route that runs from the Delaware City area to Newark.
Also known as Wrangle Hill Road, Route 72 will be closed between Route 40 and Fox Run Circle/Rue Madora near the Fox Run shopping center and subdivision of the same name, the Delaware Department of Transportation reported.
The closing is expected to last from 7 p.m. Monday to 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 25, depending on the weather.
Contractor, A-Del Construction will be widening the roadway in both directions.
Local traffic will have access Route 72/Wrangle Hill Road from Porter Road to Rue Madora/Fox Run Circle from the southern end of the closure.
The official detours are as follows:
Motorists traveling north on Route 72/Wrangle Hill Road will turn left onto Porter Road, then turn right onto Route 896/Summit Bridge Road. Turn right to US 40/ Pulaski Highway and make a left to Route 72- Sunset Lake Road.
Motorists traveling south on Route 72/ Sunset Lake Road will turn right onto US 40. Turn left to Route 896/Summit Bridge Road, turn left on Porter Road, and return to Route 72/Wrangle Hill Road.
