The University and Whist Club will celebrate International Women’s Day Friday, March 8th, by honoring Delaware Attorney General, Kathleen Jennings. International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women everywhere.

Sworn in on January 1, Attorney General Kathleen Jennings serves as Delaware’s 46th Attorney General.

She is only the second woman to serve as Delaware’s Attorney General making her the ideal candidate for the 2019 International Women’s Day honoree. Jennings’ service to Delaware includes two terms as the State Prosecutor, Chief Deputy Attorney General and Chief Administrative Officer of New Castle County.

The luncheon event will be the third for the club, who honored its first female member from 1986, Sally Hawkins, on International Women’s Day2017. In 2018, the honoree was Lt. Governor, Bethany Hall-Long, who will be returning this year to officially introduce the 2019 honoree, Kathleen Jennings.

The International Women’s Day luncheon will also host ten students from Ursuline Academy and ten students Mt. Pleasant High School where Jennings is an alumna.
