Chelsea Tavern will play host to the 2nd Annual Downtown Brewfest on August 11.
“Last year’s success is rolling into this year, and we are excited to be a part of downtown Wilmington’s only brew fest! We can’t wait until August 11th to showcase all of the positive changes going on in downtown Wilmington,” said Joseph Van Horn, owner of Chelsea Tavern.
The Downtown Brewfest consists of 100 local craft beers representing more than 50 local breweries with three bands and two DJs playing from 2-7:30 p.m. There will be a VIP tasting from 12-1:30 p.m., and general admission from 1:30-5:30 p.m.
The festival footprint encompasses 11 local restaurants, includes two local food trucks, a designated VIP area including “special” brews and beer-friendly finger foods, free LYFT incentives, and Market Street’s Annual Home Brewing Competition.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Restore the King initiative being spearheaded by The Friends of Gambrinus. The Delaware Gambrinus statue is only one of five statues known to exist that were cast from the same JW Fiske mold. The other four statues are currently on display in Baltimore, MD; Breinigsville, PA; Syracuse, NY; and Toluca, Mexico. At present, the more than 60 pieces of the fractured zinc Gambrinus statue are in storage awaiting restoration.
VIP tickets are limited and Home Brew participants can contact Briana Gordon at Chelsea Tavern for details, (302) 482-3333.
