The 15th  Downtown Newark Food and Brew Festival will take place on Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. on East Main Street.

Food and Brew showcases more than 40 craft and imported beers paired with creative food offerings from 17 Newark restaurants.

This year, both MOD Pizza and Pachamama, a Peruvian restaurant,  are participating in Food & Brew for the first time.

Unlike most beer festivals, this is a pay-as-you-go event that takes place in the restaurants.

The first 3,000 participants will receive a complimentary beer tasting mug. The mugs will be available in the participating restaurants and at the Academy Lawn. All City of Newark municipal parking meters and lots will be free during the event.

“Food & Brew allows people to get a taste of the many establishments Main Street has to offer in one night,” said Community Affairs Officer Megan McGuriman. “It’s different than any other Saturday night in downtown Newark.”

The event is hosted by  Downtown Newark Partnership and Out & About Magazine.

“This year we’re celebrating our 30th year of the magazine and Food & Brew has been around for half of those years,” said Out & About Publisher Jerry duPhily. “It remains one of the favorite events we do.”

In addition to  beer and creative cuisine, Newark’s Food and Brew festival also features live music. Strolling acoustic musicians will be performing along Main Street during the event.

Food and Brew is made possible through the support of  sponsors, the Delaware Office of Highway Safety and Renewal by Anderson.
