Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) has partnered with MEDfx to provide a more robust collection of resources to care providers, patients and their families throughout the state of Delaware and beyond.

The MEDfx open HIE Platform helps clients rapidly deliver the enhancements needed to keep up with a changing marketplace, through modern designs and workflows to drive usability and care team engagement, a release stated.

“DHIN’s mission is to serve providers and consumers of care through innovative solutions that make health data useful. Our team has invested tremendously in creating an architectural approach for a next-generation HIE to modernize our Community Health Record. We’re excited to partner with MEDfx to deploy their new HIE solution and applications to our stakeholder community,” said Dr. Jan Lee,  CEO  of DHIN.

The rising cost of healthcare continues to push providers toward value-based reimbursement models and away from the traditional fee-for-service payment system. Core to value-based care is the ability to connect clinical data and workflows and provide access to longitudinal patient records across the healthcare landscape. This is often difficult in today’s disconnected healthcare ecosystem and virtually impossible with older technologies.

“We are very excited about our partnership with DHIN and introducing MEDfx’s modern HIE Platform and Application Framework to the market, said Mike Tardif, EVP of MEDfx. “We believe it’s imperative to continue to invest in modern and innovative technologies to provide more flexibility to our clients.”

DHIN and MEDfx expect to launch the new platform in June 2018.

DHIN, the Delaware Health Information Network, is the first live, statewide health information exchange in the nation. Launched in 2007, today, it serves all of Delaware’s acute care hospitals and approaching 100 percent of the state’s medical providers.

More than 14,000,000 deliveries of clinical results and reports are made through DHIN each year. There are a total of 2.5 million unique patients with results on DHIN, including patients from all 50 states. For more information about DHIN visit www.DHIN.org.
