Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport is offering valet parking for those seeking top-shelf service.

For $30 a day, the service offers:

  • Express valet entrance and exit lane
  • Closest parking to the terminal
  • Complimentary bottled water and newspaper
  • Complimentary electric  vehicle charging
  • Complimentary window cleaning and interior vacuuming
  • Luggage assistance
  • Courtesy transportation to other terminal areas

The state-owned airport south of Baltimore competes with two other airports in the area for travelers. It already offers $12 a day covered parking and $8 a day outdoor spaces.

Philadelphia International Airport offers covered parking for $24 a day and $11 a day for an economy lot. Offsite parking can run $8 a day or less with coupons.  The private parking operator, which include Wilmington-based Colonial Parking, offer discount coupons and services at added costs, such as car washes.

The authority is under the supervision of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and continues to be clouded by scandals over spending and the alleged conduct of its former executive director.

On the minus side,  northern Delaware travelers headed to BWI  face extra travel time and  I-95  tolls  that run as high as $8 for the bridge over the Susquehanna River between Harford and Cecil County.
