Steak ‘n Shake plans location in Middletown

A popular Midwestern casual chain is slated to open its first restaurant in Delaware.

The Middletown Transcript reported that Steak ’n Shake will open at the now-closed Dairy Queen Location off Route 301. The Dairy Queen will reopen in a new location in the town.

Steak ’N Shake has been moving east and has a location outside Baltimore. Franchises territories are available throughout the nation.

The chain offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. As the name indicates, it specializes in streak burgers and milkshakes at prices that are competitive with fast food chains.

The restaurant could. prove to be popular with the large number of families who have moved to the fast-growing community, which has one of the most highly rated school districts in the state. 

Steak ‘n Shakes  typically have sit down dining  and a carryout window features that are popular with families. 

Steak ’n Shake has about 500 locations nationwide, with the bulk of the locations in the Midwest and South. The company is based in Indianapolis. The chain opened its first location in the 1930s in Illinois.

Steak ’n Shake officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
