Horizon Services owners say the recently announced deal with Sun Capital Partners will aid the company as it expands along the East Coast.

Horizon is a residential heating, air-conditioning and plumbing service firm that is based near Prices Corner, west of Wilmington.

A release earlier in the week announced the purchase.  The private equity firm has a diverse stable of holdings that include Boston Market, Friendly’ s and Robertshaw, a maker of air-conditioning and heating control systems.

While further expansion was mentioned, the impact on Delaware was not spelled out.  (See story below).

The post  on the company’s website stated that  “Sun’s investment will specifically be used to grow the business, which in turn will create more corporate jobs in HR, marketing, finance, accounting and more over the next few years in our Wilmington, DE headquarters.”

The post went on to state  that  Geiger and Mark Aitken will remain owners and handle all day-to-day-operations.

Sun’s investment will allow the company to make improvements in customer service and technology with an estimated 100 new jobs to be created within the next two years, according to the Horizon post.

Horizon grew from a one-office operation near Wilmington to hundreds of employees and hundreds of orange trucks. The company has operations in an area extending form Hartford, CT. to Maryland.

The company has also been active in nonprofit activities in the Delaware Valley.
