The Emerging Enterprise Center (EEC), a New Castle County Chamber of Commerce (NCCCC) initiative, hosted its first EEC Luncheon last week, at World Café Live at the Queen.
The luncheon featured the Swim with The Sharks (SWTS) Video Pitch Competition, modeled after ABC Network hit television show “Shark Tank.” The EEC, Delaware’s only small business incubator, required competition participants to submit a three-minute video pitch showcasing their company and describing how the prize package could be used to promote their business. Luncheon attendees voted live for their favorite finalists, Nerd It Now, Jade BioTech, and Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel.
The EEC named Amira Idris, founder of Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel, the Swim with The Sharks Video Pitch Competition winner after receiving 55 percent of the vote. Idris received the following $7,950 prize package:
- $2,500 in cash
- $2,500 one-year business tax service, provided by Williams Humphreys & Co.
- $1,200 six-month membership to EEC Virtual Incubation Program
- $1,400 NCCCC Marketing Package
- $350 one-year NCCCC membership
Nerd It Now and Jade Biotech received a one-year membership at the NCCCC.
Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel created a sleeve that uses vibration therapy to help people with amputated limbs better manage phantom limb pain, a condition that affects about 2 million amputees in the USA. For more information about Vibrating Therapeutic Apparel, visit www.wearvta.com.
