New fund to aid small businesses in Market Street area

First State loanThe First State Community Loan Fund unveiled the Market Street Corridor Revitalization Fund at an event Wednesday at the Twisted Soul Restaurant at 413 N. Market St.

The fund is designed to spur the growth of small business on Market Street.

Twisted Soul, a restaurant and bar, opened earlier this year.

On hand were Governor Jack  Markell, along with restaurateur Joe Horn and representatives from JPMorgan Chase and the Buccini/Pollin Group.

The fund was formed as Market Street sees a continued influx of new residents. ,  At the same  time, small businesses have struggled in the area as long-time businesses depart and employment patterns change.

First State  Community Loan Fund’s  mission is to educate, empower, and elevate business owners, and entrepreneurs, by augmenting technical expertise, increasing access to capital and stimulating business growth throughout Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania.
