Innovations to be showcased at Technologies to Watch event

Tech JazzThe Technology Forum of Delaware is hosting Tech+Jazz 2016, its second annual “Technologies to Watch Showcas. The event will  spotlight the compelling technologies and innovations that are inspiring new products, new services, and new businesses in our region.

This year, the event will feature over 20 innovations from corporate R&D groups as well as promising technologies from the University of Delaware, and incubators and collaborative workspaces in the region.

“We are excited to showcase some of the most exciting technologies being developed in our business community.  Attendees will be looking into the future to see the technologies that will impact We are Delaware in the next 3-10 years”, stated  George Rotsch, event co-organizer.  “In part, these innovations are the result of the work being done to create an environment for new tech businesses in Delaware.thrilled to feature innovators from the Delaware Technology Park, 1313 Innovation, the Horn Program at UD, and the New Castle County Chamber’s Emerging Enterprise Center”, added Jennifer Kmiec, event co-organizer.

The 20-plus  featured technologies are in material science, health science, digital communications, clean technology, learning tech and smarter services. Demos will include new materials that stiffen only when impacted for a new class of protective armor, anti-bullying software that identifies potential deviant behavior, as well as mobile e-learning software that features micro-credentialing with gaming for workforce readiness from an award winning software firm.

“The science and innovation behind these new products and services are an incredible testament to the capabilities of the people in our region and it will lead to creating tech jobs here in Delaware, and improve the lives of people around the world,”  stated Rick Sommer, president of the Tech Forum. “We are proud to spotlight so many innovative firms.”

In addition, firms from around the region will demonstrate new technologies that:

  • Combine physical therapy with gamification using biofeedback technology
  • Enable football helmets to inform players when they might have a concussion
  • Exhibit the winning concept from Jefferson Health Hackathons… 3D-printed interchangeable prosthetic parts
  • Demonstrate next generation 3D printing that features new material like wood, glass and stainless steel for more realistic objects
  • Gamify social media behavior
  • Demonstrate the new potential for Augmented Reality in marketing
  • Introduce the Uber model to local delivery of packages and medicine
  • Discuss the latest advanced in Gene Editing and its impact on drug development
  • And more….

“We anticipate a strong showing of business, technology and community leaders at the event. Last year’s showcase attracted over 250 people, and this is quickly becoming one of Tech Forum’s signature events,” states Jennifer Kmiec.

Tech+Jazz 2016 is sponsored by the law firm of Young, Conway, Stargatt and Taylor and will be held at their office in Wilmington.
