Darrell Williams, 45, and David Story, 47, both of Philadelphia, were sentenced to 20 years each for a string of robberies that included a hold-up at Stuart Kingston Jewelers in Wilmington.
The U.S. Attorney’ Office for Pennsylvania reported that in addition to the prison terms, U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence F. Stengel ordered five years of supervised release, a $1,100 special assessment for Story, and a $900 special assessment for Williams.
In addition to the conspiracy, Williams and Story were charged with using and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence. Both pleaded guilty – Williams on April 9, 2015; Story on April 20, 2015. The court imposed restitution in the amount $5,219,205.84 on Story and Williams.
The Stuart Kingston hold-up involved a large mined ruby decoration, according to the News Journal.
On November 1, 2011, Williams and Story, along with Rufus Lawson, Jackie Howard and Willie Hawkins Smith, robbed Stuart Kingston located at 2010 Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilmington.
On three separate occasions – July 13, 2011, April 13, 2012 and August 22, 2012 – Story committed an armed robbery of the Tourneau store in King of Prussia, PA, prosecutors stated.
Williams, according to prosecutors, participated in the robberies on July 13, 2011 and April 13, 2012. On January 9, 2012, the pair, along with co-conspirators Rufus Lawson, Anthony Lockwood, and Kenneth L. Williams, committed a robbery of Govberg Jewelers, located at 292 Montgomery Avenue in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. On February 22, 2012, Williams and Story, along with Rufus Lawson and Kenneth L. Williams, robbed the Bernie Robbins Jewelers, located at 595 E. Lancaster Avenue in Saint Davids, PA.
The robberies, including the Stuart Kingston hold-up were “smash and grab” affairs.
Many police departments, including Wilmington and Delaware State Police participated in the investigation along with the FBI.
