Wilson to be honored by National Kidney Foundation

Screen Shot 2016-02-24 at 10.01.30 PMTina Wilson of Bear has been selected as the recipient of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)’s Community Leadership Award. She will be honored on World Kidney Day, Thursday, March 10 at the NKF Honors Awards Reception in Philadelphia.

Wilson has been a counselor, cheerleader, encourager and mentor for individuals approaching kidney transplants. Her husband, Jim is a kidney transplant recipient and both have been instrumental in leading Team Wilson/Wilmington University in the Wilmington Kidney Walk, which has directly raised nearly $35,000 for the National Kidney Foundation since the first Wilmington Walk in 2009.

“It is a pleasure to be presenting Tina Wilson with the Community Leadership Award at March’s NKF Honors,” said Christin Kwasny,  executive director of the National Kidney Foundation, Philadelphia. “Tina and her team, Team Wilson/Wilmington University, are committed to spreading awareness of kidney disease and raising funds to support research and educational programs in the Delaware Valley and across the U.S.”

NKF Honors is NKF’s annual event that honors those in the communities who have made a difference in the lives of kidney patients and have advanced the mission of the National Kidney Foundation. The Kidney Ball is one of NKF’s largest annual fundraisers and is anticipated to raise over $300,000 for the organization’s awareness, prevention, and treatment programs.
