Gentlemen’s club slaying suspect arrested in New York City

A  New York man, 28,  has been arrested in connection with the November 2015 homicide of William O. Brown at the Gold Club gentleman’s club    on South Market Street, near the city of Wilmington. 

 
The investigation determined that the victim, later identified as William Brown, 35, of Wilmington, and a male suspect had been involved in a verbal altercation inside the bathroom of the club.
During the altercation, the suspect produced a gun and shot Brown in the upper torso. Brown was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he died from his injuries.  
 
Delaware State Police Homicide Unit detectives were able to identify Lamott Matthews, 28, as the suspect in this case. They secured a warrant charging Matthews with Murder 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. 
 
On Tuesday, Matthews was apprehended by the US Marshals Service NY/NJ Task Force at an apartment located in the 100 block of W. 122nd Street, New York, NY. Matthews is currently being held as a fugitive in the custody of  the New York City Department of Corrections. He will be formally charged upon his extradition to Delaware. 
The club was closed after the homicide and the Attorney General’s office pursued a civil action to close the establishment, due to a number of incidents that have occurred on the property.
The club closed, but has since reopened under the name Fantasia.
