The new radio station of WBOC went live this week with live hosts and music “from the ‘80s, ‘90s and today.”

The station kicked off late last year with commercial-free Christmas music.

The 50,000-watt station can be heard across much of the Delmarva Peninsula.

The station enters a crowded market on the Delmarva Peninsula that includes iHeart, formerly Clear Channel and Adams Radio Group.

Delmarva Broadcasting recently sold off much of its holdings in the Salisbury area, while maintaining a presence in Delaware.

WBOC, owned by Draper Holdings, started out as a radio station, but over the past half century focused on TV.

The station plans to make a splash in the market with a $50,000 giveaway.

102.5 WBOC-FM was owned by Marantha Broadcasting and operated as WOLC, a radio ministry. That station ceased broadcasting prior to the sale to Draper Holdings. A radio newsletter reported WBOC paid $650,000 for the station.

Draper Holdings, which also owns WBOC-TV, FOX21, WBOC Classics, WBOC.com and Loblolly LLC, which has real estate holdings.
