AFPBeer and Benevolence will again offer awards to arts non profits in Sussex

Dogfish Head will again hold its annual  Beer & Benevolence holiday gift awards, we’re giving $30,000 to Sussex County non profits that support the arts. “Art is an essential component to good living,” says Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione. “And we’re proud to support the people who are making Sussex a better place to live and work.”

Dogfish will  give out three awards: a top award of $20,000 and two more for $5,000 each.

“We’ve enjoyed tremendous support here in Sussex,” says Mark Carter, Dogfish Head’s Beer & Benevolence guru. “We’re happy to return the good karma.” Rules are as follows:

– Must be a nonprofit in Sussex County, Delaware.

– Must provide an executive summary that includes your mission, organizational structure, budget outline and impact of work.

–  Must provide one of the following: a two-minute (or less) video that explains how your nonprofit fulfills its mission OR a 10-minute in-person presentation to the Beer & Benevolence team at the Milton brewery.

Those interested can E-mail  mark@dogfish.com with a preferred presentation method by Nov. 20. Presentations will be heard in early December, prior to Dec. 11. Video entries are due by Nov. 30.

The nonprofits that fit the criteria and wow us with their submissions will be chosen. Winners will be notified no later than Dec. 16.

Philanthropy Day event coming on Nov. 17

National Philanthropy Day will feature a   conference and awards  ceremony on Nov, 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chase Center at the Riverfront, Wilmington.

Philanthropy Day  features  350 regional funders, members of the community, nonprofit partners, and civic  leaders. Sponsor is the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Brandywine Chapter.

The Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon will feature volunteers, youth in philanthropy, and organizations making notable impact in philanthropy. This year’s awardees include: Charles F. Gummey, Jr. (Lifetime Achievement); Gals That Give (Volunteer Award); Braeden Mannering (Rising Star in Philanthropy); St. Elizabeth High School (Students in Philanthropy Award); Stacey Bacchieri (Philanthropy Award); Michelle Taylor (Outstanding Fundraising Executive); and Kanani Hines (Rising Star).

Keynote speaker is  Emmett D. Carson, founding CEO of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.  Registration deadline is  November 13th.  Seats can be reserved at www.afpbrandywine.afpnet.org
