Newark man loses turkey and more than $1,000

A Newark man’s efforts to get a turkey a little early  led to a fine of more than $1,000 and no bird.

The Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police cited the man for poaching a wild turkey near Newark, a release stated.

Mark E. Nyce, 46, of Newark was charged with hunting without a license; hunting wild turkey without completing an approved course on turkey hunting; possession of an unlawfully-taken wild turkey and unlawful method of  weapon (pellet gun) for wild turkey.

The  wild turkey was confiscated as evidence. Nyce was issued fines totaling $1,191, including court costs.
