ChapmanChapman joins Potter Anderson

Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP (Potter Anderson) announced that William L. Chapman, Jr. has joined the firm as Chief Talent and Diversity Officer and Senior Counsel.

This newly created senior management position reinforces Potter Anderson’s ongoing commitment to attracting, developing and retaining top talent with a variety of backgrounds in order to best serve the long-term needs of its clients.

Reporting to the Executive Committee, Chapman will lead the firm’s efforts to recruit and develop a diverse team of dedicated attorneys.  He will work closely with the firm’s Recruiting, Associates and Diversity committees, as well as with the firm’s newly appointed Chief Operating Officer, Cynthia A. Bauer, to ensure that the firm is well positioned for ongoing success.

Originally from New York City,  Chapman came to Delaware as a Deputy Attorney General for the Delaware Department of Justice after receiving his A.B. from Brown University in 1983 and graduating from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986.

He has served the State as a Family Court judge for the past 20  years and has been active in the community through organizations such as The Walnut Street YMCA, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Delaware and St. Michael’s School & Nursery.

Eagan joins Morris Nichols

Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP announced  that Brian P. Egan has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group.  With ten years’ experience in patent litigation, Brian has represented leading technology companies in cases involving patent infringement, trade secrets and other litigation matters across an array of industries, including medical devices, LEDs, pesticides, cosmetics, wind turbines and consumer products.

“Brian’s extensive experience in a variety of industries further enhances our IP practice,” said Morris Nichols IP partner Karen Jacobs.  “We are delighted to welcome Brian aboard.”

Egan joins Morris Nichols from the New York office of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.  Before entering private practice, Brian served as a judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and served as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office examining chemical and materials engineering patent applications.

Brian earned his J.D. (2004) cum laude from American University Washington College of Law; and B.E. (2001) in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt University.

CSC wins law journal awards

Corporation Service Company a  global provider of business, legal, and financial services, has been named #1 for both Entity Management and Matter Management solutions by readers of the New York Law Journal.

CSC was founded in Delaware and has its headquarters near Wilmington.

Results of the New York Law Journal’s 2015 “Reader Rankings” were announced today in a special section of the legal daily.

The annual online survey covered more than 100 categories, encompassing the areas of technology, research, accounting, insurance, financial services, litigation support, education, and more. In all, more than 8,400 readers cast their votes for nearly 500 companies.

For the fifth year in a row, CSC took first place for Entity Management. For the third time in a row, CSC took top honors for Matter Management.
