Assurance Media partners with sound management firm

copy-assurancemedialogo2Assurance Media, Wilmington  has announced a  partnership with Cambridge Sound Management that aims to improve productivity in the workplace through “sound masking.”

The Massachusetts based manufacturer’s QtPro sound masking systems are based on 16 years of sound management expertise. Coupled with Assurance Media’s existing cabling and A/V offerings, Cambridge Sound’s  line of products will benefit Assurance Media’s clients in the form of increased workforce productivity, security and employee satisfaction, a release stated.

Cambridge Sound has compiled research into workplace satisfaction and the costs associated with noise disturbances. One study found that employees waste an average of 21.5 minutes per day due to conversational distractions, making speech privacy the number one cause of reduced productivity in any given workplace.  That adds up to  a company with 100 employees with an average salary of $50,000 per year translates to $200,000 worth of lost productivity per year.

The partnership seeks to limit that lost productivity though t devices produced by Cambridge Sound and integrated into existing cabling and A/V systems by Assurance Media’s technicians.

Sound masking works by adding sound to an area to make speech less audible. While it seems counter-intuitive to fight sound with sound, it has been proven effective in many applications, the release.

With sound masking, it becomes more challenging to understand conversations from across the room, and thus makes it less likely those conversations will be distracting.
