Mid atlanticThe MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival has added a preview event.

In addition to the Festival week of Wednesday, May 13—Sunday, May 17, 2015, the first of several previews has been announced. The festival is presented by Bank of America.

Festival officials confirmed its first preview event outside of the Festival week, A Taste of the MidAtlantic. The event is slated for Sunday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Education Building, 1200 N. French St., Wilmington. Guest will sample food and beverages from area chefs, wineries, distilleries and breweries. Music will also be offered. Cost is $75.

Taste of the MidAtlantic announced the following chefs will take part.

Laura Stimson, the festival’s executive producer, says the “bright atrium has been transformed into an activity space for the Community Education Building. It’s a cheerful venue for a world-class brunch time fete.”

The building at 12th and French streets was donated to the Longwood Foundation for educational purposes by Bank of America in 2012 and is now home to two schools – Kuumba Academy and Academia Antonia Alonso. Festival beneficiary, Christina Cultural Arts Center, provides arts education programming to the Community Education Building schools.

Chip Rossi, Delaware market president for Bank of America, which returned as the Festival’s 2015 Presenting Sponsor, says: “The MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival is forging pathways for culinary students to achieve their educational goals, showcases local cultural institutions and has the ability to drive economic development for the region.”

Festival Board President Vance Kershner says this year’s festival will  be comprised  of 35 events. The festival is expanding into both New Jersey and Maryland. Several preview events are in the works from February through April.
