Wilmington City Council Member Darius Brown has worked for nearly two years to bring the California-based  jobs site to Wilmington. The free  service is open to residents and non-residents.

Wilmington.TweetMyJobs.com helps job seekers expand and enhance their job opportunities. The platform is designed to unearth new connections within job seekers’ existing social networks to enable job referrals and introductions, a release stated.

Job seekers also receive matched job alerts instantly and directly through their preferred medium Facebook, Twitter, email or mobile. Employers using the platform gain access to industry-leading technology, at no cost, broadening the social reach of each job post and thereby reaping the competitive advantage of reaching more qualified, local candidates faster, according to the release.

“I am proud to have been able to bring TweetMyJobs to Wilmington,” said Council Member Brown. “Many of the people in Wilmington and in surrounding areas who are looking for work are attuned to the new technologies and are frequent users of social media. Likewise, more and more employers know that the new technology is a great way to find employees. As more and more employers begin using Tweet My Jobs to list employment opportunities, people in my district and others will find the information and hopefully take advantage of these employment opportunities.”

He said he is especially appreciative of the steadfast support the project has received from Delaware’s Labor Secretary John McMahon and the state’s Economic Development Director Alan Levin. In particular, Labor Secretary McMahon is extending his Department’s normal outreach and assistance program by assigning a job specialist to the Louis L. Redding City/County Building on French Street.

“We applaud Council Member Brown, Mayor Williams and other government officials for their focus on local job growth and their emphasis on making the job searching and posting process more simple, immediate, and effective through our technology platform,” said Brenden Cotter, President of TweetMyJobs. “We are excited to see local businesses and residents leverage our job matching, mobile and social recruiting technology to create and secure more employment opportunities for the City of Wilmington.”

Brown said the unemployment rate for Wilmington is around 7.4 percent  and there are still many unemployed residents who not part of the labor statistics because their limited education or training skills have caused them to lose any hope of finding a job. Brown said he wants Wilmington.TweetMyJobs.com to be a game changer and prove to people that you can find a job that suits your skills.

Brown said the Wilmington.TweetMyJobs.com will also deliver useful analytics to local government officials, providing government with local insights that can help steer key strategic decisions to further foster job growth.

The analytics platform will track the number of residents  pursuing job opportunities, the type of positions being sought, as well as the industries in which job seekers most desire to work. It will also measure the number of jobs companies post over time as well as the type, industry and location of available opportunities.
