New Castle man arrested in connection with series of robberies

Screen Shot 2015-01-26 at 10.27.56 PMFollowing a joint investigation conducted by the Delaware State Police and the Wilmington Police Department, detectives arrested a 32-year-old New Castle man and charged him in connection with a string of armed robberies that have occurred in New Castle County since December of 2014.

Jose A .Quinones was apprehended after he was spotted in a vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart, in the Prices Corner area, shortly after he had allegedly attempted to rob a BP gas station.

During the robbery, the suspect confronted a male clerk and implied that he was armed and demanded money from the store’s register. The clerk refused produced a hand gun and shot at Quinones who then ran from the store.

Quinones’ description, as well as a possible suspect vehicle description, was issued to troopers. Troopers then apprehended Quinones in the Wal-Mart parking lot without incident. Troopers realized that Quinones had been shot in an upper extremity and was then transported to Christiana Hospital .

State Police detectives have charged Quinones with 12 counts of Robbery 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, and 13 counts of Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony. He was then arraigned and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for lack of $65,000.00 secured bail.

Quinones has also been linked to six additional robberies that have occurred in the city of Wilmington.
