Ritter joins Gunnip

Gunnip & Company announced the addition of Lynn B. Ritter, CPA, MST.  As a manager in the tax department,

Lynn will be involved in all areas of taxation including strategic planning, research, analysis and preparation of returns for the firm’s clients, including individuals, estates, trusts, small and large privately-held companies, public corporations and nonprofit organizations.

Lynn brings more than 25 years of diverse experience, primarily in the Wilmington area.

Incyte names new CFO

Incyte Corporation, Wilmington, announced the appointment of David Gryska as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective October 31. Gryska will report to Hervé Hoppenot, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Gryska will succeed David Hastings, who has served as Incyte’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since October 2003. Mr. Hastings, who is leaving the Company to pursue other opportunities, will remain with Incyte through the end of November and will work closely with Mr. Gryska to ensure a seamless transition.

“Dave Hastings’ contributions to Incyte’s success have been invaluable and he has played an integral role in supporting its evolution from an early stage drug discovery entity to a company that has successfully commercialized its first product. He is leaving Incyte in a strong financial position and well-positioned to deliver long-term value to our shareholders,” stated Hoppenot. “Dave Gryska comes to us with extensive experience in the biotechnology sector, including as the former CFO at Celgene. I am confident that he will be of great value to Incyte as we continue to grow our business and expand our pipeline.”

Gryska brings over 30 years of finance experience to Incyte from his tenures at Celgene and Scios and through his work with a number of publicly traded biotech companies. He is a three time public company Chief Financial Officer with proven skills across multiple finance disciplines. His finance credentials include a CPA, MBA and substantial experience as an audit committee chair.

Huffnagel joins Faw, Casson

Faw Casson  welcomed  George J. Hufnagel, Jr., CPA to the Dover office.

Hufnagel  has 17 years of experience  in public accounting. He will primarily  work in tax planning and preparation,  and employee benefit plan audits.

Originally from Suffolk County, Long Island, Hufnagel has been living in Delaware since 2003.

Luke named to Delaware Hospice post

Delaware Hospice is pleased to announce the appointment of Janet Luke to the position of Assistant Director of Development and Community Outreach.

Luke’s duties will include: management of regional planning, implementing and evaluation of fund–raising events in New Castle and Kent Counties, and the southeastern counties of Pennsylvania, raising visibility in the community, and securing community support for Delaware Hospice programs.

Prior to this position, Janet Luke served in various development positions for several non-profit organizations and businesses around the country, including Fazio International, Generations Home Care and, most recently, Director of Development for PAWS for People, Inc.

Several notable contributions to PAWS for People include establishing a development program which focused on individual, corporate and foundation solicitation, also known as the PAWS for People Endowment Fund.

Law named Luce  assistant professor

Stephanie Law has joined the University of Delaware as the Clare Boothe Luce Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering.

The Clare Boothe Luce Program, which began giving grants in 1989, is now the single most significant source of private support for women in science, mathematics and engineering.

Law, who completed her doctorate in physics in 2012 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, studies the use of new materials to control and manipulate light in the mid- and far-infrared ranges. Her work has applications in a wide range of areas, including thermal imaging, gas sensing, thermophotovoltaics, communications, and pharmaceuticals.

Clare Boothe Luce, the widow of Henry R. Luce, was a playwright, journalist, ambassador, and member of Congress. In her bequest establishing this program, she sought “to encourage women to enter, study, graduate, and teach” in science, mathematics and engineering.

Young named 87ers coach

The Delaware 87ers  announced that Kevin Young has been promoted to Head Development Coach ahead of the 2014-15 NBA Development League season.

“Coach Young embodies the characteristics that our organization values,” said 87ers General Manager Brandon Williams. “In addition to being a valued team member within our culture, Kevin has shown strong commitment to the development of our young players. He is a tireless worker, with a strong appetite to learn and grow as a coach, which is key to our progress. I know he relishes this opportunity, and we are excited about Kevin leading the development program in Delaware.”

As an assistant coach for the 87ers in 2013-14, Young helped develop Thanasis Antetokounmpo into a second-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Young also served as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers during the  NBA Summer League 2014.

Young has coached in the NBA D-League since 2007, where he has been on the bench for both the Utah Flash and Iowa Energy. Young was also the head coach of the Shamrock Rovers Hoops in the 2006-07 Irish Super League season. Before that, He  spent time as an assistant coach at both Utah Valley State University and Oxford College.

The Delaware 87ers home opener is set for Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Skyforce at the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center.

Two  associates join HomeServices

Ed Breland, manager of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Realtors Bear  Office, welcomed  Brad Gillan as a Sales Associate.  Gillan has a background in economics and is a member of the Nation Association of Business Economics. He specializes in single family and multi-unit properties. Gillan resides in Bear and serves New Castle and Kent Counties.

Bill Lyons, manager of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach,  Realtors Newark Office, welcomed Jun Tian as a Sales Associate. Tian is a member of the New Castle County Board of Realtors.  She resides in Newark with her family. Tian serves New Castle and Kent Counties.

Santiago joins La Comunidad Hispano

La Comunidad Hispana has named Abner Santiago of West Grove as its new Behavioral Health Consultant.

Santiago began work at LCH this month after spending nine years at the Latin America Community Center in Wilmington where he was Director of Mental Health Program/Outpatient Therapist as well as the coordinator of their Domestic Violence Program.

“We are pleased to add Abner to our staff of professionals,” said Margarita Mirkil, President and Chief Executive Officer of LCH. “He brings valuable experience to LCH.”

Santiago has a Master of Science degree in Community Counseling and a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science from Wilmington University. He is a licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.

He is also certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy with children and adolescents and trained in Parent Child Interaction Therapy.

He has experience as a domestic violence family therapist at Child, Inc. of Wilmington. In 2008 Santiago received the Community Award for Professional Achievement.

La Comunidad Hispana was established in 1973 as a community-based nonprofit organization to help low income residents of southern Chester County.
