Megabus to bring back Newark-NYC route

megabusMegabus.com will revive its New York City service from Newark.

The company   announced  it will reinstate daily service between the University of Delaware campus in Newark, Philadelphia  and New York City on Sept. 10, Tickets can now be purchased on the  company’s website. The European company had halted service earlier in the year.

Fares start from $1, plus a reservation fee.

The bus company will offer one daily departure to New York  Monday through Thursday and Saturday. The number of daily departures increases to two  on Friday and Sunday. 

“Megabus.com is pleased to announce service resuming from Newark to New York,” said Mike Alvich, the company’s vice president of marketing and public relations. “We are resuming service, in part, to more effectively match demand and the travel patterns of students at nearby universities and other customers that frequently travel between the two popular destinations.”

Megabus.com operates through an agreement with UD Transportation Services.. It has continued to operate service from Newark to White Marsh Mall outside Baltimore and  Washington, D.C.

The Megabus.com arrival/departure location in Newark is located at the University of Delaware’s parking lot No. 6 on Christiana Drive on the Laird Campus.

Parking for customers is available in parking lot No. 7 (across from Christiana Drive) with a valid parking pass, which can be purchased via credit card at the kiosk next to the bus shelter.

The departure location in New York is located on 34th Street, between 11th and 12th avenues, across the street from the Javits Center. This is three blocks west of Penn Station and is adjacent to the MTA bus stop.

The arrival location for buses from Newark to New York is at the intersection of 7th Avenue and 28th Street.
