A new organization, The Bear-Glasgow Business Association, is being formed in the Route 40 corridor.

A Town Hall meeting has been scheduled to gather ideas.  The session will be held on June, 13, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Paris Community Room at Delaware State Police Troop 2, 100 Lagrange Avenue, off Route 40.

There is no fee to attend the meeting. A light lunch will be provided by Community Powered Federal Credit Union.

Speakers will include Dr. Chad Laurence, Hockessin Business Association (HBA) who will discuss how HBA got started, how it grew and how the organization has benefited member businesses.

The sprawling area along Route 40 and the home of Lums Pond State Park and the Pencader corporate complex  has been seeing a growing business community. Of late, the large number of retail vacancies that arose during the recession  has been on the decline as new businesses occupy space. In addition, a number of  businesses, serving  regional and even international markets,  now operate out of the area.

The area saw rapid growth in the 1980s and 1990s that was accompanied by the construction of shopping centers along Route 40 between Route 13 and the Maryland line.
