This collaboration will  also aid the  Mount Pleasant High School station that has struggled at times during its existence, while helping to  launch of the  careers of  a number of people in radio.

The Brandywine Hundred area north of Wilmington has traditionally been served by WHYY,  Philadelphia. Now, WDDE’s   news operation will be able to reach a key area with its   Delaware news and legislative  coverage.

The collaboration will also develop a new youth media curriculum to give high-school students exposure to  communication technologies  that help  create high-quality multimedia content, according to a release.

WDDE does offer live steaming of its programs, but the online share of the radio market remains in the single digits for many stations. Radio remains a popular option for commuters and the dial often remains set at the favorite station.
