On an unseasonably warm day, when many people dream of going to the beach, Butch Feeser left his Lewes home and drove two hours to the Whole Foods in Glen Mills, Pa., to offer samples of his spice-dusted chips and pretzels.

“No one can promote my product like I can.”Feeser is in good company. From potato chips to pickles to jams to dog bones, Delaware-made products are popping up in boutiques, restaurants and food stores.

But as Feeser’s traveling proves, it isn’t easy. In addition to maintaining quality control, entrepreneurs must handle production, distribution, marketing, licenses and permits.
