[new_royalslider id=”77″]Penguin Ads held a photo shoot on Saturday morning to help draw attention  a campaign with Delaware Shoprite stores.

On hand was company founder  Mac Nagaswami, Chris Kenny, CEO of Delaware Supermarkets, owner of the Shoprite stores, as well as drivers and vehicles. The event was held at the Four Seasons Shoprite in Glasgow, south of Newark.

Under Kenny family ownership, Shoprite has been growing rapidly in recent years, adding stores in Glasgow, Bear and Wilmington. It also operates another Newark area store, as well as supermarkets in Stanton and north Wilmington.

Penguin Ads was founded two years ago and works out of the University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship. Nagaswami graduated from the University of Delaware earlier this week and staff is comprised of current or former students.

Penguin Ads connects drivers to advertisements that are placed on their vehicles. The company looks for drivers who are willing to place advertising on their vehicles with travel routes that match needs of advertisers.  Penguin then makes a monthly payment to the drivers.

It is the only local company believed to operate in the growing niche in advertising. National companies do look for drivers willing to “wrap ” vehicles in company logos and colors.

Shoprite is promoting a social media-based contest that has people taking photos of cars carrying advertising. The winner receives an iPad. Penguin Ads, which suggested the promotion,  put the drivers, vehicles and advertising together.
