hookAfter 10 years of serving state and national clients with translations for the Hispanic marketplace in the US, Delaware’s home-grown translation agency has a new name, Hook Translations.

Founded in 2003 as the BilCom Group by Patricia V. Rivera, a bilingual marketing communications specialist,  the business has provided English-to-Spanish translation services to clients ranging from Perdue Farms, the Nemours Foundation, Beebe Healthcare and Delaware Technical Community College in Delaware to AAA of Arizona, the Texas Hispanic HealthCare Initiative and the Amputee Coalition of America.

“Our new name clearly describes our mission — to engage Hispanic readers with lively and accurate translations that prompt them to take notice and take action,” says Rivera, Hook Translations owner-manager. “From personnel and training manuals to newsletters and marketing materials, our translations preserve the client’s intent while using phrasing that will resonate with the intended audience, whether they’re college graduates or lower-literacy readers.”

All of Hook’s translators have university degrees in translation science and at least five years of industry experience.

“We launched this agency because the quality of the translations we were seeing was very poor with many companies asking unqualified employees to help with translations,” said Virginia Ariztoy, Hook’s head translator and editor. “Raising the bar was and has been at the core of what we do.”
