Delaware 302, a Milford company has announced the formation of  Charity Wishlist.

The Charity Wishlist is an organization that helps nonprofits and charities sustain their ongoing donation, and fundraising, needs through low cost online systems.

The organizations wants to  help charities by providing them with a way to accept donations of either money or goods online.

The system  guarantees that a minimum of 90% of donated funds will go to the charity. Charity Wishlist has applied for a non-profit tax designation.

Also planned is a  Wishlist Catalog that  allows charities to post the goods they need most at the moment, and update that list regularly to reflect changing needs.

Old Dominion donation

Thanks to a recent $2,000 donation by the Old Dominion Electric Cooperative, Cecil College’s division of Career and Community Education is receiving support.

The college’s Family Education Center will use $1,300 of the gift to purchase two smart tablets, while the remaining $700 will provide a scholarship for a student enrolled in a certificate program.

“Being a local employer, we think the education of our community is very important to provide growth for the county as well as prospective employees for all of the business owners in the area,” said Brent Converse, facility site manager for Old Dominion Electric Cooperative – Rock Springs Generation Facility in Rising Sun, Md.

The Family Education Center serves Cecil County’s young parents and their children. A significant number of these children are educationally delayed and non-verbal. Using the smart tablet, teachers at the FEC have test-piloted a program that encourages the development of verbal skills and helps the children reach their targeted education level. The tablets will enable programming for the children in need.

Over the last few years, Old Dominion Electric Cooperative has supported a number of Cecil College’s fund raising initiatives, including the Daniel A. Hall Memorial Golf Tournament, Cecil College Wine Gala, and Cecil College Foundation Scholarship Ride. ODEC also regularly assists other organizations throughout the area.

“Our motto is to stay involved,” said Converse. “We try to stay involved in the community and believe it is the right thing to do. We call this a touchstone project.”
