Twenty-one Wilmington Police cadets donated blood to kick off the week-long City of Wilmington Hero Drive. The drive is part of the Summer Blood Challenge of the Blood Bank of Delmarva. The cadets are nearing the end of an intensive academy program.
Shown in this photo are cadet Danielle Farrell and phlebotomist Brittney Liberty. The challenge, which includes team competition and other events, is designed to encourage blood donations during a time of year when supplies run low at blood banks. The cadets donated blood at the Market Street location of the Blood Bank in Wilmington. The Summer Blood Challenge is now in its 11th year.
