The  Heritage Foundation and a sister group are coming to north Wilmington to hold a meeting on a controversial plan to halt funding for the Affordable Care Act,  also known as Obama Care.

The organization will hold a town hall  on Aug. 29   from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the  Woodlawn Room of the Double Tree by Hilton Wilmington on Concord Pike.

“Delaware deserves better than the government-run health care system that Obamacare’s heavy hand imposes.  The law is unfair, unaffordable and unpopular,” says Jim DeMint, president of The Heritage Foundation.  “Fortunately, the fight to stop the implementation of this disastrous law is a fight the American people can win, and I’m honored to be in Wilmington as we work together to send a message to Congress that it can’t ignore: Defund Obamacare now.” DeMint is a former South Carolina senator who stepped down to head the foundation.

The town hall meeting, according to the release “will provide citizens with practical information and tools that will help in their efforts to hold Congress accountable.  Additionally, participants will discuss conservative policy ideas for defunding Obamacare and ways to rein in out-of-control government spending as well as other topics.”

Under DeMint,  the  foundation has been venturing outside of Washington, D.C.  to  make the case  for the cutoff of  funding for Obama Care, even at the risk of shutting down the federal government.  The town hall meetings are open to the public.  RSVP online at HeritageAction.com/DelawareValley
