The Delaware Community Foundation welcomed seven new members to its Board of Directors. The new board members are:

Kelly E. Firment, the small business credit card product/strategy executive at Bank of America. She is responsible for managing the Small Business Credit Card suite of products, driving the value propositions, short and long term strategies, product features and marketing strategies as well as developing new products and enhancements to meet market and customer needs. Among her previous roles with Bank of America,  Firment has served as executive for   Retail Banking.

Nancy Karibjanian, vice president of Delaware First Media and an adjunct professor of communication at the University of Delaware. She is best known as the anchor of WHYY’s former nightly news program “Delaware Tonight.” Her broadcasting career includes anchoring, reporting, producing and news staff management.

Robert N. MacGovern, chief investment officer of Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited. His prior investment experience includes serving as chief investment officer for PartnerRe, director of treasury operations for the American National Red Cross, and as an equity portfolio manager at Foxhall Investment Management.

Donald W. Nicholson, Jr. is  a financial advisor with Donald W. Nicholson & Associates. He received a BSBA in finance from West Virginia University and is a certified financial planner and accredited asset management specialist.  Nicholson currently serves as the president of The Next Generation – North of the Delaware Community Foundation.

Vice Chancellor John W. Noble, who was appointed to the Delaware Court of Chancery by Gov. Tom Carper in November 2000. He is a graduate of Bucknell University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was an editor of its law review and elected to the Order of the Coif. Following law school, he clerked for the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. From 1977 until his appointment, he was a principal with Parkowski, Noble & Guerke, P.A., in Dover.

John Paradee, an attorney with Prickett, Jones & Elliott, P.A., in Dover. He practices in the areas of commercial litigation, commercial and residential real estate, and general business, corporate and administrative law. He was admitted to the Delaware Bar in December of 1989, the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in January of 1990, and the U.S. Supreme Court in April of 1997.

Joan L. Sharp, founder of Life Strategies, LLC. Her philanthropic endeavors in the community include serving on the External Affairs Committee of Christiana Care and the board of the Delaware Art Museum.

“We are so delighted to have these new directors on our board,” DCF President and CEO Fred Sears said. “Their experience and wisdom will help guide the Delaware Community Foundation as we continue our work to make Delaware a better place to live and work.”

Eschenbrenner returns to Karins

Karins and Associates, a full service consulting firm that provides civil engineering, planning and surveying services in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania, announced  that Donald W. Eschenbrenner has returned  as a Civil Engineering Designer.

He  previously worked with Karins and Associates for 10 years and has 27 years of experience as a Civil Engineering Designer and Drafter.

He has knowledge  and understanding of Subdivision and Land Development Engineering. During his career, Don has worked for several engineering companies in Delaware and New Jersey. Eschenbrenner has worked as a project manager and designer on numerous housing,  shopping, office and industrial development projects in New Castle County.

His expertise and knowledge of engineering includes stormwater management, floodplain studies, erosion and sediment control, water, sanitary ands torm sewer  systems, site grading, subdivision street design and traffic noise Mitigation.

In addition to  his design experience, Donald is an expert draftsman and proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D and MicroStation. He has knowledge of many computer software  programs that are critical to the engineering field.

He has been a Certified Construction Reviewer since 1996 and is applying for a Delaware Professional Engineering license based on his current experience.

Founded in 1973, Karins and Associates is celebrating 40 years in business.  The firm has offices in Newark and Seaford.
