The Delaware Department of Transportation announced it will take steps to ensure smoother traffic flow when the Firefly Festival concludes at 11 p.m., Sunday in the Dover Downs area.

DelDOT motorist should avoid driving in the Dover area. DelDOT will adjust signal timings through Dover through New Castle County on Route 13.

The northbound right lane of Route 13 will be closed at an anticipated time of 9 p.m. If NASCAR weekends are any indication, traffic could also be heavier than normal on Monday morning, although no mention of that was made by DelDOT.

The festival brought an estimated 60,000 visitors to central Delaware

Inbound traffic on Friday led to lengthy back-ups on Route 13 and resulted in many commuters arriving late for work.
