United Water sells Arkansas operation

    United Water, a subsidiary of  Suez Environment, announced that it had reached an agreement to sell its regulated water operations in Arkansas for $28.6 million to Liberty Utilities Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Algonquin Power & Utilities, a publicly traded Canadian energy company with water and wastewater interests in four states: Arizona, Illinois, Missouri and Texas.

    United operates a large water utility in northern Delaware.

    The transaction, which is scheduled to close in the fourth quarter, is subject to regulatory approval by the Arkansas Public Services Commission.
