Sallie Mae officials announced a 200-employee expansion of its Muncie, Ind. customer service center.
The nation’s largest financial services company specializing in education will add 200 new jobs and invest as much as $5 million in real estate improvements and technology.
A 20,200-square foot building expansion will provide work space to raise Sallie Mae’s employment level in Muncie to 900 employees with more than $30 million in annual payroll.
Sallie Mae is headquartered near Newark, Del. And employs around 1,000.
Sallie Mae will hire 200 new employees in the first year after completion of the building addition, scheduled for summer 2013. Those jobs, in addition to the committed 700 jobs, are pledged to remain in place until at least the end of 2024.
Sallie Mae opened its Muncie location in 2006 in the former “Airpark” shell building on Superior Drive and has grown into one of Muncie’s largest employers..
