“This is an exciting program that will help Nonprofit agencies across the state improve communications with volunteers and donors, and better serve their clients,” said Christopher Grundner, CEO  of DANA. “This is also a great example of what can be accomplished when the business community gets involved and thinks outside the box about ways to improve our community.”
The concept for the program started when Tom Stevenson of WSFS Bank, and an active member of several nonprofit boards, asked  members of the Delaware Social Media community  if they would be willing to offer their expertise.

Mark A. Turner, President and CEO of WSFS Bank, then offered the bank’s facilities for the training program.

“I am thrilled to see this idea come to fruition and thank everyone involved for coming together for the greater good of our community,” said  Stevenson.  “I am looking forward to the official launch of this program where even more non-profit agencies will benefit.”

“At WSFS Bank, we take our corporate and social responsibility to strengthen our communities very seriously,” said Turner, who also recently joined DANA’s Board of Directors. “It is an integral part of our culture and one of our core values and I am happy we could be a part in this initiative.”

Whitney Hoffman of Hoffman Digital Media and Dave Yunghans of Constant Contact put together curriculum and training for a pilot program with eight Nonprofit organizations that ran through May and early June.

“I’ve seen educators, businesses, and government agencies accomplish great things using social media tools,” said Hoffman, “I can’t wait to see what a large number of nonprofit agencies will be able to do with these tools at their disposal.”

“I’m confident that DANA is setting a standard that other states will want to follow,” said Yunghans,  of Constant Contact. “The Nonprofits of Delaware are doing amazing work to help our communities thrive, and I’m thrilled to work for a company and in a state that is able to make something like this happen.”

The five week training program will run in Dover from mid-July through mid-August, then in Wilmington from mid-September through mid-October. Future classes will then be scheduled.
