The Carlyle Group is taking a close look at Sunoco’s Philadelphia Refinery.

Bloomberg reported the investment firm is not certain about investing in the refinery that is slated to close this summer if a buyer cannot be found.

Refinery closings have led to fears of tight supplies and soaring fuel prices, with a federal agency recently pointing to that possibility. Sunoco has already closed its Marcus Hook refinery.

Carlyle Group may be looking at the apparent success of investment firm, The Blackstone Group in investing in the Delaware City Refinery. The refinery was reopened by PBF Energy after Valero made plans to demolish the site.
