State budget Reset Conversations added for March, April

Gov.  John Carney on Monday released an expanded schedule of  Budget Reset Community Conversations. The Conversations are hosted by members of the General Assembly – Democrats and Republicans – at their constituent coffees and town hall events to discuss Delaware’s budget challenges and to gather ideas from members of the public.

Legislators from both parties are co-hosting the events.  The state faces a projected $350 million shortfall, with the possibility more red ink in coming years. Delaware is required to balance the budget, leaving the option of spending cuts, tax increases and probably both.

Delawareans can also visit de.gov/budgetreset or email BudgetReset@state.de.us to offer their ideas. 

“It’s time to solve Delaware’s budget challenges. We need to stop kicking the can down the road,” said Governor Carney, when he announced the Conversations last month. “My team will work with Democrats and Republicans in the General Assembly on a long-term budget solution. But we must also listen to members of the public, and gather ideas from Delawareans who balance budgets every day at home and in their businesses.”

9:00 a.m. – March 1 – Nanticoke Senior Center, Seaford, hosted by Representative Daniel Short
