sussex-county-logoThe Sussex County Advisory Committee on Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities will host a presentation at its next meeting, at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21.

M&T Bank senior branch manager Mary Ann Leager will discuss how seniors are vulnerable to financial fraud and how they can take steps to guard against it.

The meeting will be held at the Sussex County Administrative Offices West Complex, 22215 N. DuPont Boulevard, in Georgetown.

How thieves steal from others, though, is as ever-changing and sophisticated as the technology they employ in today’s digital realm. From identify  theft and health insurance to home repairs and sweepstakes, there is no shortage of scams to pull over on unsuspecting victims. Too often, those victims are the most vulnerable among us: senior citizens and the disabled.

The Sussex County Advisory Committee on Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities is an 11-member panel established by the Sussex County Council to be an advocate for programs and policies that benefit older and disabled residents. The committee meets every other month, in January, March, May, July, September and November. All meetings are open to the public.
